Ca La Maria B&B: A Heavenly Private Oasis in Barcelona

Tucked away in the charming Eixample quarter of Barcelona lies Ca La Maria B&B. I stayed in several accommodations during my 2-week adventure in Spain, and without a doubt, Ca La Maria soared above the rest. This boutique hotel encompasses the essence of true Barcelona charm. I honestly spent the majority of my last 2 days in Barcelona relaxing at Ca La Maria and it was the best possible end to my travels. Ca La Maria is where quaintness and luxury meet.

The moment I stepped into the hotel, I was personally greeted by Maria herself, who showed me around and to my room. My room was a little spot of heaven topped off with a glass chandelier and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The room also had a private patio to enjoy the fresh Barcelona air. The room was fully equipped with a flat screen TV that doubled as a mirror, Wi-Fi, and a fancy bathroom complete with top of the line toiletries and a rainfall shower. I seriously could have never left my room and been totally happy.

Behind the walls of my room was the most alluring sitting area you could imagine. It is a place where you want to plop down in a chair, grab a book and never get up. The back wall was filled with books, games and several other activities to occupy your time . In fact, my first day in Barcelona was filled with rain. So what did I do? I made an espresso at the coffee bar, sat in a comfy chair and listened to the rain in the solarium. Usually, rain would spoil the day, but I was perfectly content spending the day at Ca La Maria.

The terrace. I am still dreaming of my evenings spent on the terrace at Ca La Maria. It is a serene place hidden behind the hustle and bustle of the city. It was always so quiet and luckily for me, I usually had the whole thing to myself. The terrace was the perfect place to sit back and relax after a day of walking around the city. Be sure to grab a drink and snack at the complementary Honest Bar. I really enjoyed the local Barcelona beers that were available. I paired them with a tasty nut mixture, while my daughter ate way too much of the candy!

Now lets talk about the breakfast. I could go on and on about how absolutely spectacular the breakfast at Ca La Maria is. It provided touches of a typical Spanish breakfast such as meats, cheese, fruit, bread and pastries, all of which are homemade. To accompany the bread, you had a selection of homemade jam made right at the hotel. The flavors were unique and so so yummy! Bonus: you can purchase a jar (or 20) and bring them home with you! The olive oil prepared at Ca La Maria is also for sale and delicious! My favorite part of breakfast was the cute little homemade yogurts. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! My absolute favorite was the one with the kiwi jam at the bottom. Drool. On top of that, I was offered eggs each morning. I washed it all down with fresh squeezed orange juice made from the famous Spanish oranges. Hands down, Ca La Maria has the best breakfast that I have ever experienced while traveling abroad.

And for all my fellow traveling families– If you are looking for luxury and a little slice of heaven, but don’t think its possible to have with kids; you are mistaken. Ca La Maria was an excellent choice for my toddler and I! The staff were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. My daughter loved running around on the terrace and took advantage of the snacks that were available. The king size bed was perfect for sharing and our accommodations were roomy. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here if you are traveling with children!
